Coat Hook – An Overview

In the olden days of society, the coat hook was just another ordinary small fixture in the house or even in some offices and do not get much attention except when the need to hang a coat arises. More so, they were just installed on walls to serve the primary function of being a place to hang coats or anything that can be hanged on it. Nowadays, our society has evolved into something where decors and appealing fixtures are being sought after in order to create an elegant theme in a living room or any other room one could think of. These wall mounted coat hooks were then transformed into something that could spice up the settings and themes the room owner prefers to have. They have now become more like decors so to speak and at the same time serving as a functional fixture. Not only that, they are great space savers too. They can pretty much handle the tasks of the bulkier coat racks which can take up some space floor space. They can be installed in many numbers depending upon the need.

In a typical house setting, most of these hooks are installed at places where coats are most likely to be hanged such as on an area near the doorways or some wall areas along the hallways. However, the need to hang something in the rooms and even kitchens has made them a useful fixture in those areas also.

Plastic coat hooks are made up of sturdy and lightweight plastic resins which can handle heavy loads to some extent. Those that are made of metals are the most popular choices such as the brass coat hooks and the wrought iron coat hooks. They are the most durable types and can handle heavy loads. One can also find some wood coat hooks being sold but not many would give due preference to those types.

As they have become a decorative fixture already, hooks for the coats have been appearing in numerous styles and designs. Some styles have multiple hooks in a single fixture which can be useful in hanging several coats or jackets all in one setting which can save space. In some styles, they are also made to appear like antique coat hooks. Shopping or looking for these useful fixtures has become easier.
